Overview & Objectives

This course is for anyone interested in learning how to paint. It assumes no prior knowledge and is suitable for the absolute beginner. But if you do already have some knowledge and experience, there will still be plenty here you can learn that will help you improve. Learning how to paint is a path that, whilst easy to get started on, takes a lifetime to master properly. There is always something new to learn and we are all still learning, including us.

The collection of tutorials and tips will take you from absolute beginner, help you through the learning curve and leave you at the end with a level of knowledge that will help you to learn a variety of painting techniques in a more of a 'how to...' style.  This course is a 'how to' course and is designed for the user to watch, follow and paint along with our artists. We have tried to keep it simple so that it's easy to follow without over complicating things. You will watch and learn how to paint a range of paintings from all our tutorials both written and by video. There are sections touching on most aspects of painting, what materials to use, colour charts and lots more.

Learning to Paint.

Learning how to paint, the beauty of painting is that anybody can have a go! Granted you will need a few tools and materials to get you started but these things are very inexpensive. You can buy everything that you need from any art shop or superstore to get you started on this course.

Once you have sourced your equipment, start by painting with the artists in the tutorials, dont worry too much about technical details just have a go, later on in the practical areas you will learn how to do more of the technical things in the lessons we have lined up for you. Ok Here we go!


Tools and materials needed to create your Masterpieces:

Canvas or water color paper to paint on - You can pick these up fairly cheap. We suggest going for an A3 size to start with (29.7 x 42.0cm, 11.69 x 16.53 inches)

Paint Brushes - These will become your beloved friends and will become part of you. Over time you will most certianly learn how to use these brushes to there best.

Paint brushes have differenet shapes. It would be wise to go for a selection of flat and rounded brushes in a variety of sizes.
Container with water
Paints - We recommend Water Colour paints.

Paper towels

Palette for mixing paints - Styrofoam plate work well for this.
